Kolhan University’s 4th convocation

 Kolhan University organised its fourth convocation in Chaibasa on Tuesday.  Droupadi Murmu, governor of Jharkhand who was the chief guest and delivered the convocation address. She emphasised on importance of research, innovation and technological advancement.

This apart vice-chancellor of Kolhan University, Shukla Mahanty; pro-vice-chancellor, Ranjit Singh; principals of colleges from across Kolhan region and students were present for the third convocation ceremony in the multipurpose hall of Tata College, Chaibasa. The vice-chancellor delivered her welcome speech highlighting the achievements of Kolhan University in the past years.

The day began with the academic procession led by Murmu along with vice-chancellor Mahanty..

” It is a historic moment. We have come a long way. Our university has achieved many milestones and now we aim to also introduce some innovative courses. From the academic session 2019-20, the Kolhan University will introduce diploma courses in yoga and value education. We expect that all our college campuses will be equipped with wi-fi network,” said Mahanty in her welcome speech.

The fourth convocation ceremony that gave out degrees to students of 2014-17 witnessed 38 students received gold medals for their academic performance across various streams. Students this year like last year were dressed in traditional attire. While boys adorned white kurta and churidar and girls were asked to come in white salwar suits. The pink Indian safa and a Santhali traditional stole the tribal as well as Indian touch to the university convocation. University officials and chancellor also wore pagdis.
